West Langley's Halloween Carnival & Preschool Party

For art this week we focused on painting and drawing our own leaves and adding our own fall colors!
We also went on a Nature walk and collected leaves, twigs and berries for our Nature Collages next week! We saw a squirrel and a dog too!!!
In the Gym we pretended to be leaves falling while we sang some songs about fall.
Sung to London Bridge
All the leaves are falling down, falling down, falling down.
All the leaves are falling down, it is fall...
Take the leaves and rake them up, rake them up, rake them up,
Take the leaves and rake them up, it is fall.
Make a pile and jump in it, jump in it, jump in it
Make a pile and jump in it, it is fall
Get the leaves and stomp on them, stomp on them, stomp on them
Get the leaves and stomp on them, it is fall.
We also went to the Apple Barn! We learned all about Apples, Bumblebee's and got to try some Apple Cider! The children also got to pick a pumpkin to take home with them!
On Friday we painted pumpkins and took advantage of the sunshine and went to the playground!
(sung quietly) When all the cows are sleeping, the sun has gone to bed......
UP jumped the scarecrow and this is what he said
I'm...a... dingle dangle scarecrow
with a flippy floppy hat
I can shake my hands like this (shake hands)
I can stomp my feet like that (stomp feet)
Here are a couple songs and books we have been singing/reading to the children for our All About Me theme:
Head & Shoulders
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes
And eyes and ears and mouth and nose
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes
(Repeat, getting faster each time)
Five currant buns
Five currant buns in a baker's shop.
Big and round with a cherry on the top,
Along came a boy with a penny one day,
Bought a currant bun and took it away.
Four currant buns in a baker's shop.
Big and round with a cherry on the top,
Along came a boy with a penny one day,
Bought a currant bun and took it away.
Three currant buns in a baker's shop.
Big and round with a cherry on the top,
Along came a boy with a penny one day,
Bought a currant bun and took it away.
Two currant buns in a baker's shop.
Big and round with a cherry on the top,
Along came a boy with a penny one day,
Bought a currant bun and took it away.
One currant bun in a baker's shop.
Big and round with a cherry on the top,
Along came a boy with a penny one day,
Bought the currant bun and took it away.
(5 children stand and act as the currant buns, and a child from the group pays the baker and goes and picks a child to take away)
Ten Fingers
A fingerplay
I have ten fingers hold up both hands, fingers spread
And they all belong to me, point to self
I can make them do things-
Would you like to see?
I can shut them up tight make fists
I can open them wide open hands
I can put them together place palms together
I can make them all hide put hands behind back
I can make them jump high hands over head
I can make them jump low touch floor
I can fold them up quietly fold hands in lap
And hold them just so.

Student Leaders!

Well done Lauren reading 10 books!!
As a prize, Lauren received a gift and a class certificate!
You will see displayed in the classroom a Reading Chart. Miss Chelsey, whom is attending school to receive her Teaching Degree, has created & introduced this fun way of reading! Here the children can write about their book and receive a "star" for every book they read! After 10 "stars" there will be a PRIZE! This is a fun way to encourage children to read more.
Please take a look at their book summaries below!
